I have recently been toying with the thought of exploring illustration as my next pathway in art, and have started playing around with watercolour and pen as a part of that process. I have found a few watercolour illustrators for inspiration and am excited to be looking into this new branch of art. Below is one of the sketches I did this week (it has been a very art-full week for me and I am so excited to finally have the time and energy to put into practicing my art). This sketch started out with wanting to play with intertwining figures, so I put brush to paper and laid the colour down as foundation first. The next day, I tackled the pen work. Starting with the two plant/vines, I played around with the lines I had made with the watercolour and turned them into flowy projections off the main vine. Then I decorated the flowers, looking to play with patterns. Finally the background seemed empty so I added in the dot circles, and added a bit more watercolour for some highlights. I had a lot of fun with the piece, and enjoyed having the watercolour down first and having to use what was there to create an image. I did a sketch of daffodils in a similar way. Thanks for reading, and I'll post another update when something artistically exciting happens :)
