3/2/2018 0 Comments Exercises in ValueI recently watched a youtube video describing the usefulness of values scales and trying value paintings with all of the paint colours you use in order to learn more about the quality of your paints. I know value is something I struggle with, so I wanted to try this out. The painting on the left is my result. I used Burnt Sienna because I liked the bright orangy- red of it. I learned a decent amount from this project, and definitely want to play around with value scales more. As you ca see along the bottom of the painting, my value scale jumps from very dark to very light quite quickly. I didn't spend much time setting it up. As you can see in my palette, the lights are far too light to show up on paper. After painting this cat I had a fair bit of paint left over, and did a sketch of a coneflower of sorts that I really enjoyed. I played around with spritzing some alcohol on the wet paint to create some texture, but I'd like to play with some dryer paint. The alcohol had a cool effect, but things ended up blending together anyway. 3/2/2018 0 Comments Week 8 - Ice Age
